Biography (I hate biographies, but I had to writ one recently so here goes):

Michael Winter is a composer, music theorist, and software designer. His mentors and influences in music include James Tenney, Larry Polansky, Nick Didkovsky, Mark So, James Orsher, G. Douglas Barrett, Joe Kudirka, Madison Brookshire, Raven Chacon, Taylan Susam, Gyorgy Ligeti, John Cage, Christian Wolff, Alvin Lucier, Harris Wulfson, Cat Lamb, Chiyoko Szlavnics, Michael Byron, and Michael Pisaro – just to name a few even though there are many more. He is a firm believer in music making as an experimental process and free information; e.g. open source code, free music, etc. In keeping with this, all his scores, software, writings, recordings, and related work are typically easily to obtain and are currently accessible through the web at www.sonicism.net
